Drysdale maintains trial with Waddell was wrong

He may have been named New Zealand's Olympic flagbearer and team captain but rower Mahe Drysdale isn't about to shy away from taking a swipe at officialdom.

Drysdale, the current world single scull champion, only earned the Olympic berth after a row-off with former Olympic champion Rob Waddell earlier this year.

Before the trial Drysdale said it was the wrong thing to do as they would be forced to peak twice, once for the trial and then the Games - and he still maintains that's the case.
