NZRU say door not closed on Northland and Tasman

The New Zealand Rugby Union doesn't believe the future is all bleak for Northland and Tasman who were on Monday axed from the top tier of the national provincial championship in 2009.

NZRU Professional Rugby Manager Neil Sorenson says that all unions have until September the 5th to raise any issues over the decision, which was based on a set of criteria including playing numbers, finances and governance.

While Sorenson acknowledges Northland and Tasman will be disappointed, the decision doesn't close the door completely on them.
