The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has lost her opening match at the Olympics in Beijing, going down 7-5 6-7 4-6 to Japan's Ayumi Morita.
Morita is ranked almost 100 places below Erakovic on the world rankings.
Erakovic was far from her best in an error-ridden display, in a match that last over two days due to weather disrupting the tennis programme.
