Bob Carter to coach Canterbury's cricketers

10:15 am on 14 August 2008

The Black Caps assistant coach Bob Carter has been appointed head coach of Canterbury, replacing Dave Nosworthy who is leaving to coach in South Africa.

Carter has had four seasons as John Bracewell's assistant and Canterbury Cricket's chief executive Lee Germon says he must also be one of the highest qualified coaches in New Zealand.

Carter says he still wants to coach at international level and succeeding with Canterbury will help him achieve that.

He's expected to start early next month.
