Fouhy convinced time out the right thing to do

6:28 am on 15 August 2008

Canoeist Ben Fouhy, who won a silver medal in Athens four years ago, says he's ready for action despite hardly rating a mention when it comes to medal contenders in Beijing.

Fouhy has rarely figured in the top three in lead up regattas to the Olympics but he's adamant he's in the best shape he's every been.

Fouhy broke off from a training camp in Australia with his New Zealand teammates Steven Fergusson, Mark Walker and Erin Taylor to spend time at home just prior to heading to Beijing.

Fouhy says he just needed time out.

His competition starts next week.
