Several New Zealand sailors remain well placed in their Olympic regatta's off Qingdao.

The Star crew of Hamish Pepper and Carl Williams opened their campaign with a fourth.

Tom Ashley is also fourth and Barbara Kendall sixth after five races of their respective boards.

Jo Aleh is fourth too after four races of the Laser Radial.

Andrew Murdoch is 15th after four races of the Laser.

Dan Slater finished 12th after the eight races in the Finn while the 470 crew of Peter Burling and Carl Evans are 13th after seven races.

Organisers had hoped to have more races but a lack of wind severely affected racing. They'll try to catch up again on Sunday.
