Tall Ferns out of contention for quarter-finals

The New Zealand women's basketball team is all but out of contention for the Beijing Olympic quarter-finals after a 90-59 loss to the Czech Republic.

The Europeans led throughout with the Tall Ferns again having problems with a taller side both in scoring and defence.

Guard Angela Marino top scored with 22 points.

The result means the New Zealanders must beat top-ranked USA in their final pool match to make the quarter-finals.

Forward Jillian Harmon says they're very disappointed with how they played and also in some of their other matches and there is also great disappointment in not making the next round, which is something they have achieved in previous games.
