In the first high profile case of doping in Beijing, the Ukrainian heptathlete Lyudmila Blonska has been thrown out of the Games after testing positive for steroids.
She was the silver medallist and second-best qualifier for Friday's long jump final, but only returned to competition in 2005 after serving a two-year doping ban.
Blonska now faces an automatic lifetime ban.
