The Rotorua golfer Danny Lee has warmed up impressively for this week's US Amateur Championship with a three under par final round on his debut US PGA tour event.
He finished 12 under and 20th equal at the Wyndham Championship, nine back on the winner, Sweden's Carl Pettersson....after making rhe top 10 briefly.
And in an ominous sign for his competitors at the US Amateur, which starts tomorrow, Lee says he learned a lot playing in North Carolina and is in good form.
He says he was really excited to be playing with some of the world's top professionals, who were really kind to him, telling him when to go for it and when to play safe.
Lee finished nine shots back on the winner, Sweden's Carl Pettersson.
He was invited to compete after two titles at the Western Amateur in Michigan and another win in qualifying for this week's US Amateur tournament.
Manawatu's Tim Wilkinson was two under overall and ended in a tie for 69th.
