The Spanish tennis player and Olympic gold medallist Rafael Nadal is now officially the world number one.
Nadal took the top ranking just a day after he won the gold medal in Beijing, knocking the Swiss Roger Federer off the top spot for the first time in 237 weeks following his title at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Ana Ivanovich has replaced Jelena Jankovic at the top of the women's rankings.
