Another Olympic medal was claimed by New Zealand cyclists on Monday night, with the men's pursuit adding bronze to Hayden Roulsten's individual silver.

But the entire cycling team went into their Olympic campaign feeling confident because of the near-record breaking times they were achieving in pre-Games training.

Head coach Tim Carswell will not confirm the men's team actually beat the world record time, but says their effort in France before the Olympics was incredible.

Carswell says they knew they were in good form with Alison Shanks and Roulsten both setting personal best times in training in Bordeaux.
