New Zealand Hockey's chief executive, Ramesh Patel says there will be a full review of their Olympic campaign after the women's team in particular failed to reach their expectations.

Patel says they hoped the Black Sticks men would be in the top six in Beijing and the women the top eight.

Instead the men will play off for fifth to eighth and the women for ninth to twelfth.

Patel says he is somewhat disappointed in their efforts.
