The New Zealand javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar has failed to qualify for the final of his event at the Beijing Olympics.
In wet conditions which hampered the performances, Farquhar could manage a best throw of just 76.14 metres, which left him 20th overall with only the top 12 going to the final.
The conditions saw just three athletes throw the qualifying distance.
Farquhar's effort was six metres below his personal best.
