England's cricketers have won the first one-day international against South Africa in Leeds by 20 runs, inspired by their South African-born skipper Kevin Pietersen.
Pietersen scored 90 not out including a destructive stand of 158 from 128 balls with Andrew Flintoff, who made 78 in his first half-century for England since January last year.
England made 275 for four in their innings then applied the pressure, bowling the Proteas out for 255 with the captain claiming two wickets for 22 from five overs.
Fast bowler Steve Harmison also made a successful one-day return for his country with two for 43 in 10 overs in his first one-day international since retiring from the format 20 months ago.
So England lead the five-match series 1-0.
