Rotorua golfer Danny Lee is in a commanding position mid way through the final of the US Amateur Championship in North Carolina.
The 18 year old is five up over his opponent Drew Kittleson after 18 holes and is in line to become the tournament's youngest winner, edging out Tiger Woods by six months.
Lee was three under for the first 18 holes at the demanding Pinehurst Country Club.
Kittleson was two up after five holes before Lee took control winning seven of the next 13 holes.
A win will, as long as Lee remains an amateur, give him entry to the US Open Championship and a likely invite to the US Masters.
And Michael Campbell has had his biggest paycheck of the year finishing eighth in the Dutch Open. He finished with a final round 70 to be nine shots behind the winner Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland. Campbell pocketed $80,000.
