Faumuina says she's got no intention of quitting

New Zealand discus thrower Beatrice Faumuina has hit back at her critics who questioned her loyalty to the New Zealand Olympic team in Beijing, after her request to return home early was turned down by team management.

Faumuina, who finished 28th in the discus, failing to qualify for the final, eventually returned with the rest of the team on Wednesday morning.

Chef de Mission Dave Currie said at the time he was disappointed that Faumuina had requested an early release from Beijing rather than want to stay and support her teammates.

But Faumuina says any criticism is harsh and there is no way she would work hard to qualify if she wasn't a team player.

Faumuina says being part of the Games atmosphere is still motivating so she's not finished yet.
