Sharks set to lose major sponsor

The Cronulla Sharks are facing the loss of a sponsorship deal worth almost $1 million as a result of charges against Greg Bird.

The Test star, stood down indefinitely from the NRL club, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on his girlfriend, Katie Milligan, and is due to appear in court again on October 8th.

A chartered accountants firm, PKF, is reported to be ready to withdraw its three-year sleeve sponsorship.

PKF's chief executive David Ratcliffe has told a Sydney newspaper Bird's case has created a real problem as they talk to their staff and clients about respect and integrity and can't afford to have anything tarnish that.
