Wai Koopu looks to rugby

The departing Warriors rugby league player Wairangi Koopu is considering a move to rugby union in Europe.

Along with Ruben Wiki and Logan Swann, Koopu is set to play his last home game in Sunday afternoon's must-win fixture against the Panthers.

And he says joining the likes of fellow former Kiwi Sonny Bill Williams in European rugby is one of the options he's exploring, though he hasn't signed a deal yet.

Koopu says he's had interest from some clubs and playing rugby in a place like France would appeal, even though it's been many years since he last tried the rival code.

Sonny Bill Williams scored a try on his competitive rugby debut for Tana Umaga's Toulon club in the French premiership on Wednesday.
