Danny Lee has won the Mark H McCormack Medal, the New Zealand golfer taking the award after becoming the leading player in the world amateur rankings following the conclusion of the US and European Amateur tournaments.

Lee topped the rankings after winning the US Amateur and the Western Amateur, a feat that means he joins a select group of players including Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Lee also won a 20th equal place at the Wyndham Championship on his PGA Tour debut after posting four rounds in the 60s.

The 18-year-old became the youngest player ever to win the US Amateur at Pinehurst, supplanting Tiger Woods in the record books on the way.
