Rocky Elsom wins appeal

6:12 am on 29 August 2008

Flanker Rocky Elsom has successfully appealed his suspension for dangerous play in a major boost for the Wallabies ahead of their Tri-Nations rugby Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Elsom will now be available for the Ellis Park match on Sunday after SANZAR officials ruled in favour of overturning a one-match ban for pulling down Springboks captain Victor Matfield in a lineout during last week's win in Durban.

Now that he's been cleared, Elsom will start in the No.6 jersey with Hugh McMeniman back from a stomach bug to replace the injured Dan Vickerman at lock.
