Southland has started round five of rugby's provincial championship with a 31-8 win over Counties-Manukau at Invercargill.
The Steelers were competitive in the first half, conceding one unconverted try, and kicking a penalty.
But the second half saw the home side increasingly dominant in scrums and lineouts.
Southland added four more tries and showed they could mount a serious challenge for the Ranfurly Shield in Auckland next Saturday.
