Masteron's Richard Mason has taken maximum points away from the penultimate round of the New Zealand Rally Championship, run over the first two days of Rally New Zealand.
The Subaru driver finished over a minute ahead of Geraldine's Hayden Paddon to move up to second in the title chase but Paddon has clinched the series without having to contest the final round in Nelson next month.
Heading into the final day of Rally New Zealand Mason is in 12th position overall.
