New Zealand's Beijing 1500 metres bronze medalist Nick Willis has finished second to the American Bernard Lagat over 1,000 metres at trhe British Grand Prix meeting in Gateshead.
Willis's time was .33 of a second outside the New Zealand national record jointly held by Olympic champions Peter Snell and John Walker.
