The New Zealand racing driver Scott Dixon will have to wait a week to see if he can win the Indcycar series again after finishing fifth in Detroit and seeing see his lead slip to 30 points.

Dixon qualified on pole but after his first pitstop he found himself behind slower cars and unable to pass on the tight street circuit.

His main rival Helio Catroneves was leading when he was penalised for blocking and dropped to second, cutting `13 points off Dixon's lead with a win worth 50.

The Brazilian has to win at Chicagoland Speedway next Monday while Dixon will take take his second championship, as long as he finishes eighth or better.
