The Williams sisters will hold another family reunion on centre court at the U.S. Tennis Open after registering wins to set up a tiebreaking, sibling clash in the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The pair both had straight sets fourth round wins to set up the top eight clash a match that will break the 8-all deadlock in head-to-head matches during their career, and the 5-all count against each other on the grand slam stage.

However Serena is ruing the fact the meeting between the two twice Open champions is coming so early in the championship.

Rafael Nadal is one step away from his first semi-final in New York but was less than imposing in a four sets win over 55th American Sam Querrey.

In the last eight, Nadal meets unseeded American Mardy Fish.

British sixth seed Andy Murray is also through to the quarters for the first time 6-1 6-3 6-3 demolition of Swiss 10th seed Stanislas Wawrinka.

Also arranging a women's quarter-finals date were a worn out Dinara Safina and Italy's Flavia Pennetta who routed former world number one Amelie Mauresmo 6-3 6-0.
