The veteran Sydney Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello has been named to make his long-awaited return from injury in Friday night's NRL clash with St George Illawarra.
The former Test and New South Wales star hasn't played first grade league since being diagnosed with a bulging disc in his neck in June following a series of back problems.
But a shoulder injury to Amos Roberts has prompted the Roosters coach Brad Fittler to rush Minichiello back into first grade for the match at the Sydney Football Stadium with the winner a chance to secure a top four-finish and home final.
Fittler says the Roosters have missed Minichello's spark and ability to make the most of half chances.
