Nutbrown gets early release

The New Zealand A scrum-half Jamie Nutbrown is set to join the Welsh rugby club Ospreys after being released from his contract early by his provincial union, Bay of Plenty.

The 27-year-old Waikato Chiefs player had a year left on his deal but was allowed to leave after an undisclosed release fee was agreed.

Ospreys are refusing to confirm that Nutbrown has completed his move.

Ospreys are looking for a replacement for New Zealander Justin Marshall, who recently left for French club Montpellier.

Nutbrown would become the fifth overseas player at the region and will be reunited with his former Chiefs teammate Marty Holah, and fellow New Zealander Filo Tiatia.
