Warriors denied McKinnon appeal

6:41 am on 5 September 2008

The National Rugby League season is all over for Wade McKinnon unless the Warriors make it to the third week of the NRL finals.

The Warriors sought leave to appeal against a 3-match ban on their star fullback for spitting at a touch judge, but their request was turned down yesterday because the chairman of the NRL judiciary Greg Woods decided it wasn't a fit case to proceed on appeal, and the prospects of success were not good.

The Warriors face Parramatta tomorrow night in Sydney, needing to win and for either Newcastle or Canberra to lose, to sneak into the top eight.
