Pakistani fast bowler refused entry to England

The Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Aktar has been refused entry to England because he did not have the right documentation to enter the country to take up a contract with the county cricket side Surrey.

Aktar has had a tempestuous career and was banned for five years by Pakistan for disciplinary reasons. However, he recently won an appeal allowing him to play again and was given Pakistan Cricket Board approval to take up the contract with Surrey.

Aktar hopes to return to England almost immediately once he has a work visa. While the Pakistan board has approved his playing in England, it has still issued a legal notice demanding he pay $250,000 in fines.
