The All Whites have advanced their World Cup aspirations and booked themselves a place at next year's Confederations Cup football tournament after a 3-1 win over New Caledonia in Noumea.
The victory sets the All Whites against the fifth placed Asian qualifier in a home and away playoff to reach the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
With two matches to go New Zealand has forged an unassailable lead in the Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup and will host New Caledonia in a return match this Wednesday in Auckland.
