The French golfer Jean-Francois Lucquin claimed his maiden European Tour title after beating the Northern Ireland teenager Rory McIlroy in a sudden-death playoff at the European Masters in Switzerland.

Lucquin got into the playoff when 19 year old McIlroy, who'd started the final round with a four shot lead, dropped a shot at the last hole, and the Frenchman won the title with a birdie on the first extra hole.

New Zealand's Michael Campbell had an even par final round, finishing tied for 23rd, 8 strokes back.
