Sophie Pascoe wins third gold in Beijing

The New Zealand swimmer Sophie Pascoe has won her third gold and her fourth medal overall as she finished first equal in the 100m backstroke at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.

In the dramatic result the Christchurch 15-year-old broke the world record time she set in the heats.

Pascoe had already won gold medals from the 100m breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley and a silver in the 100m butterfly.

Meanwhile Waitakere's Daniel Sharp has won a silver medal in the men's 100 metre breaststroke.

Meantime the New Zealand team captain Tim Prendergast finished fifth in the 1500m, Southland's Jess Hamill has finished 10th in the women's javelin and Annemarie Donaldson was eighth in the women's handcycling road race.
