Police some way off deciding whether to lay charges against Brisbane Broncos

Police say it will take at least a couple of weeks to decide if any Brisbane Broncos rugby league players will be charged over an alleged sexual assault of a woman in a Brisbane nightclub toilet at the weekend.

Broncos and Queensland State of Origin players Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday have been reported as the three players questioned by police over the alleged incident.

Queensland police minister Judy Spence says police still have a lot of work to do in the investigation and has urged people to go to this weekend's elimination final against Melbourne Storm.

Asked if the Broncos players should be stood down from Saturday night's must-win Suncorp Stadium match against the minor premiers, Ms Spence said that was up to the club.

The Broncos club has confirmed three of their players are cooperating with police but neither police nor the club have named the trio.
