Kazakhstan's former triathlon world champion Dmitry Gaag has been banned for two years by the International Triathletes Union after failing a dope test earlier this year.

Drug samples taken after competitions in the United States in June showed the presence of the blood-boosting drug EPO.

38 year old Daag retired after an injury ended his bid for the Beijing Olympics.
