Mannering takes top award for Warriors

Simon Mannering has been named the Player of the Year at the New Zealand Warriors' annual awards dinner in Auckland last night.

The 22-year-old second rower, one of three players to appear for the club in all 25 NRL games so far, beat four other nominees - hooker Ian Henderson, loose forward Micheal Luck, centre Brent Tate and winger Manu Vatuvei - for the title.

The durable Mannering hasn't missed a match for the Vodafone Warriors since making a belated start to their 2006 campaign against the Bulldogs on April 30th that year.

Vatuvei was named Club Person of the Year for his overall contribution to the club both on and off the field.

Meanwhile for the third week running coach Ivan Cleary has named the same lineup for Friday night's sudden death play-off match against the Sydney Roosters at a sold-out Mt Smart Stadium.
