Sir Alex enters Terry clearance debate

English soccer's top referee's official Keith Hackett has been defended after Sir Alex Ferguson blamed him for the decision to rescind the red card shown to Chelsea's captain John Terry in the match against Manchester City last weekend.

Terry's clearance means the England central defender is now free to play against Ferguson's Manchester United this weekend.

Sir Alex has claimed if the case had involved a Manchester United player, Keith Hackett wouldn't have intervened personally.

United will be minus one of their first choice players for this weekend's match after Nemanja Vidic was sent off during United's loss to Liverpool last weekend.
