New Zealand's recently named Bowler of the Year, Val Smith, remains the world's top ranked female player in the latest rankings.

Smith's win in the singles at the World Bowls Championships in Christchurch in January took her to the top.

She is also the reigning world pairs champion, with fellow Black Jack, Jo Edwards, and is the only New Zealander in the top 12.

Another Nelson bowler Ali Forsyth, who was third in the men's singles in Christchurch, is the number two male bowler behind Malaysia's Safuan Said.

The other other new Zealander in the top 12 is Tony Grantham, who's 10th.
