Victory top appeal on behalf of spitter

6:51 am on 19 September 2008

Melbourne Victory will be appealing against the nine-match suspension imposed by the A-League disciplinary committee on striker Ney Fabiano for spitting.

The Victory have consistently maintained Fabiano is innocent of intentionally spitting at Adelaide defender Robert Cornthwaite, and they'll be trying to have the guilty finding reversed, rather than just arguing for a reduced penalty.
