Brisbane rugby league coach Wayne Bennett broken his silence over tthe off field controversies which have shaken the club NRL club accusing the media of "muck-raking".

At the club's final training before tomorrow night's semi-final against premiers Melbourne, Bennet took aim at the media's handling of allegations of misbehaviour levelled at his skipper Darren Lockyer.

ABC TV this week aired security footage from an inner-city Brisbane bar earlier this month claiming it showed Lockyer tackling the venue's manager - a claim he strongly denies.

Bennett admits he though he hasn't even looked at the footage to see if he could identify Lockyer.

And when asked about the sexual assault claims involving three other players and a woman at a Brisbane nightclub at the weekend he said there was nothing more the club could do after co-operating with police.

He appeared unconcerned the off-field controversies had taken the focus off the build-up to his possible Broncos swansong - a match which could draw the curtain on his 21-season stint as the club's foundation coach, before he heads to Sydney to take up the reins at St George Illawarra next season.
