Holloway claims third straight Wairakei Open

The Hawkes Bay golfer Doug Holloway has claimed his third straight Youthtown Wairakei Open in Taupo finishing two shots clear of fellow professional Josh Geary.

Holloway shot a two-under par 70 in his final round for a 72-hole total of nine-under par 279 to .

finish two shots clear of Geary, who won the opening Charles Tour tournament in his home city of Tauranga earlier this year.

The overnight leader Troy Ropiha, now based at Wairakei, was the leading amateur in third on six-under, after leading with five holes remaining.

Taranaki's Grant Moorhead shared fourth place on four-under par with New Zealand junior international Peter Spearman-Burn and fellow Wellingtonian Andrew Green who had the day's low-round, closing with a five-under 67.
