The United States have won back the Ryder Cup in team's golf beating holders Europe 16 and a half to 11 and a half in Kentucky.

The United States lead 9-7 heading into the final 12 singles matches, and led by rookie Anthony Kim who beat Sergio Garcia 5 and 4, the homeside strolled to their biggest win in 27 years.

The USA took 7 and a half points from the singles matches.

The US win is only their second in the last seven outings and will revive the debate about whether the world's best golfer Tiger Woods is a help or a hindrance to the national team.

Despondent Europe will immediately start the hunt for a new captain to replace Nick Faldo and aim to regain the trophy when it is next played for at Celtic Manor in Wales in two years time.
