The first class cricket career of the former England fast bowler Darren Gough ended today, after he was left out of the Yorkshire squad for its final county match of the season.

The 38-year-old in his final season was omitted in place of 19-year-old debutante Jonathan Bairstow.

Gough played 58 tests for England and claimed 229 wickets at an average of 28-point-39, placing him ninth in England's list of most successful Test bowlers.
