Kiwis forward ruled out of preliminary NRL final

6:56 pm on 23 September 2008

The Melbourne Storm and Kiwis forward Jeremy Smith will miss the national rugby league preliminary final against Cronulla on Firday night but will be able to play in the grand final should the Storm qualify.

Smith has entered an early guilty plea to a tackle charge arising from his side's semi final win over Brisbane.

The Melbourne skipper and Kangaroos hooker Cameron Smith will contest a grapple tackle charge at tomorrow night's judicial hearing but if he fails it will mean the end of his season as he'll face a two week ban ruling him out of the Cronulla game and the grand final.
