ICC to meet ICL representatives after Bangladesh crisis

5:43 pm on 26 September 2008

Cricket's governing body has agreed to meet representatives of the unofficial Indian Cricket League which triggered a crisis in Bangladesh this month by scooping up 13 of the country's leading players.

The International Cricket Council says its president David Morgan has agreed to meet ICL representatives in London on a mutually convenient date.

Morgan says he will report back to the Board's next meeting, in Dubai on October 14-15.

The ICL is backed by the promoters of India's biggest listed media firm, Zee Telefilms Limited, and is not recognised by the ICC's national governing bodies.

Many international players, including the New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond, signed up last year despite attracting an automatic ban from all forms of official cricket.
