Kinnear in charge short term at Newcastle United

Former Wimbledon football manager Joe Kinnear has been named as Newcastle United's interim manager until the end of next month.

The struggling Premier League club has been without a manager since Kevin Keegan resigned earlier this month.

Chris Hughton had been acting as caretaker.

Kinnear has been out of football for four years after he was sacked after ten months in charge at Nottingham Forest.

The announcement of Kinnear as manager has prompted an immediate barrage of angry emails and text messages to television stations and websites.
