New Zealand Rugby Union to discuss salary caps

The New Zealand Rugby Football Union will have discussions with the Players Association regarding the salary cap operating in the Air New Zealand Cup.

Union chairman, Jock Hobbs says the discussions will be based on making the competiion financially sustainable in the future.

A 14 team competition has been retained for next year with Northland and Tasman holding their spots.

Union Chief Executive, Steve Tew, says they have told provinces they have to be accountable for keeping themselves viable in a competition which is a major asset.
