Team NZ boosted with Emirates staying on board

Team New Zealand's biggest sponsor has confirmed it is staying on board with a bigger budget that will help cover both the next America's Cup, and building a boat for a European Grand Prix series.

The Dubai airline Emirates says while it decided some time ago to stay with Team New Zealand, the announcement now is to provide certainty in a time of turmoil in world business.

The enhanced sponsorship will help Team New Zealand build a new boat to campaign in next year's Med Cup series - contested in 52-foot boats slightly smaller than the America's Class.

The team's skipper Dean Barker says the full scale campaign will keep momentum going while the America's Cup is delayed by legal action.
