The New Zealand A cricketers have lost to India A by 129 runs in Chennai.
The tourists started the final day of the four day match needing 314 runs with nine wickets in hand but lost Aaron Redmond and Peter Fulton in the same over with the score on 90 after resuming on 41 for one.
Greg Hay and James Marshall added 48 for the fourth wicket but after Hay was bowled and and Neil Broom followed immediately half the side had gone for 148.
Marshall made 47 and Reece Young remained unbeaten on 39.
The second match starts tomorrow at the same venue.
