The America's Cup challenger Team New Zealand could be evolving into a permanent international racing team following the decision to build a 52-foot boat to contest to MedCup Grand Prix series next year around Europe.
With legal wrangling leaving the America's Cup in limbo - the team has become the first in this country's America's Cup history to launch a different full-scale campaign in a boat of its own design.
With its biggest sponsor Emirates confirming that it is sticking with the team, managing director Grant Dalton hopes the new project might help create permanent employment and end the boom and bust of big sailing campaigns.
