Manly avenge 2007 with Grand Final record win

Manly avenged last year's NRL Grand Final thumping from Melbourne with a record 40-nil win over their arch nemesis last night in Sydney.

The Sea Eagles led only 8-nil at halftime, but they ended up with 8 tries, as Melbourne became the first team in 30 years to be held scoreless in a Grand Final.

It was a dream finale for the Manly veteran Steve Menzies who came off the bench and scored a try in his last game, a record-equalling 349th NRL appearance, before continuing his career in England with Bradford.

The Clive Churchill Award for Player of the Grand Final went to the Manly prop Brent Kite.
